Communication Secret # 1

Posted by Editor @ 11:36 PM, Wednesday Aug 22nd, 2007

The most important part of any communication is to prepare, prepare, prepare. As soon as you know you need to speak, and have accepted the engagement, gather a list of what you need to do. Here’s a quick to do list to ensure you are fully prepared for your presentation:

1. Gather all the required data for your speech or presentation

2. Understand the requirements of your listener, and review what you feel they would find acceptable

3. Write down your ideas, and then organize them in a logical order

4. Use examples and clarify all key points

5. A great introduction is the key. Spending more time on preparing this will give you the confidence to deliver your speech effectively

6. Look at the room where you will be speaking, feel comfortable in the room and with where you will be delivering the speech. Make sure it is set up properly as any surprises or stress before your presentation will diminish your confidence and impact your speech.

7. Remember,  preparation is everything!

All the best
