How to Get the Most out of Recruitment Agencies

Depending on the job you are looking to pursue, you may be able to use the services of recruitment agencies. Many employers like IT professionals tend to look to recruitment agencies to find them job applicants.

One of the reasons that these agencies are used, is that they can pull together a variety of job applicants according to the job specifications and they can screen for the best candidates for the job. Because of this, an employer can rely on having a stable of good potential employees for any job they advertise.

If you’re thinking about signing up with a recruitment agency here are a few tips you should know to bet the most out of them:

Make sure you have the right recruitment agency - check the agency to see whether they offer the types of jobs you are looking for so that you aren’t wasting your time. All agencies aren’t created equal so you can check out their websites to be sure of what they are looking to recruit.

One of the best ways you can help your recruitment consultant is by having a really clear idea of what you want, and sticking to it.

Create a checklist of up to ten items - it can include anything that’s really important to you, from main responsibilities and promotion prospects to geography and working hours, to seniority and package details.

Once you’ve done that, prioritise it - work out what you’d be willing to compromise on and what you wouldn’t.

Having a clear brief like that makes the recruiter’s job much easier, and is likely to get you a much better result.
