Online Employment Opportunities

Posted by Editor @ 8:24 PM, Thursday Mar 26th, 2009
There are literally millions of employment opportunities on the web and probably at least half of them that you can qualify for depending on what you want to do. If you want to travel out of your area you can find even more matches. Listed below are some of the ways to find the many employment opportunities:

Job Sites

§         The most popular job sites if you are looking for a job within an industry are Monster.com, CareerBuilder.com and Hot Jobs.com. Any of these will give you thousands of jobs that you can look for using a category search. These job postings are usually done by recruiters who are acting for either a specific business or many. Most of the jobs that you find at these locations can be applied for online.

§         The advantage of applying online is that you can have more resumes and cover letters in circulation than you can when you have to mail them out. Many will ask you to email your resume and cove letter. You can literally spend a few hours a day looking at employment opportunities and applying to them.

§         You can also post a copy of your resume and cover letter on the site to make it easier for recruiters to find and for you to use.

Craig’s List (www.craigslist.com)

  • Although many people do not know about Craig’s List as a place to find a job it is a place where a variety of recruiters list specific jobs. You can also go there for part-time and short jobs. Craig’s List has both national and international employment opportunities and they are categorized by states or countries. You can post your own resume as well and list a website if you have it.

Local Newspapers

  • Most local newspapers list employment opportunities that are within your local area. The Sunday newspaper is best because they post the newest ones each week. You can usually browse these postings online each week.

Trade organizations

  • If there is a trade organization in your field they probably have a website. On the website they also have employment opportunities. As an example, for education the Chronicle of Education lists jobs all over the United States.
